El ministro de Interior y Policía, Jesús Vásquez Martínez, denunció ayer que debido a esa mafia el Viceministerio de Regulación de Armas y Municiones tuvo que ser cerrado definitivamente y se excluyeron de nómina a 51 empleados el año pasado.
Al presentarse ante el Senado, en respuesta al requerimiento de los legisladores, Vásquez Martínez expresó que declararía todo lo que encontró en el Ministerio al momento de asumir sus funciones el pasado 16 de agosto.
“Le hemos dicho al país lo que había: una mafia de armas operando. Eso lo sabe todo el país, lo que operaba en el Departamento de Armas era una mafia estructurada de años y años”, manifestó.
Vásquez tildó al tema de “mayúsculo” , ya que había una venta de servicios, extorsión, tráfico de influencias, sustracción de expedientes y expediciones de carnés con datos falsos, entre otras irregularidades.
El ministro indicó que se han dado respuestas contundentes, y que estas actividades son objeto de una investigación “más profunda”, cuyos hallazgos fueron entregados a un equipo de abogados designados por el presidente Luis Abinader, para recuperar bienes robados al Estado.
