El presidente Luis Abinader afirmó anoche que en los próximos meses se propone aumentar el salario mínimo como parte de las compensaciones que hará el gobierno ante las alzas de precios de los productos de consumo masivo.
El presidente señaló que como resultado de la pandemia, el consumo de alimentos es mayor que la producción y que ante el alza de precios se está asistiendo a los productores.
En la entrevista conducida por los periodistas Alicia Ortega y Huchi Lora, Abinader sostuvo que con el aumento de salario mínimo “en la misma proporción a la inflación” se busca “recuperar el poder de compra que se ha perdido”.
El jefe del Estado dijo que con esta medida se compensa a la clase media porque el salario subiría en cascada, a la vez que se ha mejorado la asistencia social a través del programa Supérate, que beneficia con RD$1,650 a 1.3 millones de personas.
Reforma fiscal
Al abordar el tema de la reforma fiscal, el Presidente dijo que se inclina por presentar un presupuesto que establezca las mejoras y luego plantear una discusión acerca de dónde sacarán el dinero.
No obstante, adelantó que habrá que eliminar exenciones fiscales “porque ya cumplieron su medida y tenemos nosotros que eliminar”.
“También tenemos impuestos que tenemos que eliminarlos, otros que tenemos que disminuirlos y también extender la base porque uno de los problemas es la informalidad. El 56% de la población dominicana no paga impuesto, o sea, es un tema que tenemos que presentar”, apuntó el gobernante.
Aclaró que “ahora mismo no hay condiciones para una reforma fiscal” pero hay que ponerse de acuerdo “para ver cuándo es el mejor momento para implementarla”.
Indicó que se inclina por aumentar las recaudaciones, gastar mejor y evitar duplicidades porque no quiere irse por el camino fácil de endeudar al país como era la norma en anteriores gobiernos.

Abinader informó que están en marcha numerosas obras en todo el país y destacó que ya se iniciará el proyecto de Pedernales con la dotación de servicios como el aeropuerto, planta de tratamiento y generación eléctrica, en momentos en que al menos 13 empresas quieren instalarse en el proyecto.
Sobre Manzanillo, dijo que pronto dará el primer picazo para la instalación de un astillero que generará 500 empleos mientras el BID trabaja con el gobierno para el muelle.
Expresó que el 25 de este mes va a Barahona a dejar en funcionamiento el puerto y que ese día comenzarán las exportaciones de productos agrícolas hacia Nueva York.
